Finney died after a short illness, the BBC reported on Friday. Born in Salford, Greater Manchester, in 1936, he began his career as a Shakespearean theatre actor. "We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Albert Finney," the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) said on Twitter.
