A team of officers led by Pol Maj Gen Bunthawee Toraksa, the Phang Nga provincial police commander, arrested the five men at Koh Rad Village. There are eight suspects overall in the case. Three of them were previously arrested and released on bail, and they all deny the allegations against them. A lawyer for the defendants, Natharat Nukaew, revealed that all suspects would be detained at the court for now. Natharat noted that this sum of money was very large for the poor villagers, and said he would seek help from the Phang Nga Justice Office in raising bail.
