Five-star hotel penalised

Officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Saturday imposed a penalty of ₹26,000 on a five-star hotel in Nanakramguda for a host of violations, which included procuring and using unstamped meat. Officials including Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Director (Veterinary wing), veterinary officer, food inspectors and the Assistant Medical Officer of Health (AMOH) inspected Hotel Hyatt and imposed the penalty for not following the public health and hygiene norms, a note from the GHMC said. The norm that food handlers should obtain medical certificates certifying them as free from contagious diseases has not been adhered to, they said. The management is being prosecuted under various sections of the GHMC Act 1955, the officials said. Instructions were given to the hotel management to rectify all the defects pointed out by the inspection team and report compliance, it said.
