A meet the candidates' event has been put off due to the current alert level 2 restrictions. A meet the candidates’ evening scheduled to be held in New Plymouth this week has been postponed. Fitzroy Rotary has suspended the Wednesday night event due to logistical reasons related to social distancing under the coronavirus alert level two regulations. However, National's leader, Judith Collins, has pushed for the election to be delayed as the recent Covid-19 outbreak has brought a halt to party campaigns. On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister and NZ First leader Winston Peters also called for the election to be pushed back.
