MIRI: A fishing trawler was detained in the South China Sea offshore Miri for carrying a cargo of 5,000 litres of illegal diesel. MMEA Miri enforcement chief Captain Mohd Fauzi Othman told reporters here Saturday (April 27) that his team have detained the boat and its crew and towed them to the Miri jetty. "The trawler was found two nautical miles offshore Miri. "When our MMEA patrol boat approached, the crew on the trawler switched off the lights. Our patrol unit closed in on them and boarded the trawler and we found that they were carrying diesel cargo on board.
