A fisherman is in a stable condition in hospital after falling 20 metres down a cliff south east of Auckland. Rescue helicopter spokesman Mark Cannell said the team had deployed a winch rescue machine to retrieve the person. Emergency services were called after the person fell about 20m down a cliff at Waiti Bay, 50kms from Auckland around 10.30am on Sunday. The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust was able to winch the person to safety, while St John ambulance also sent vehicles to the scene.
