Fisherman knocked out by wing of crash-landing microlightAIMEE DUNN/SUNLIVE The landing happened on Matata beachfront, near Whakatane, around 2.30pm on Wednesday. A fisherman was knocked out by a microlight's wing as it landed on a Bay of Plenty beach. The Zenith microlight aircraft was flying from Waihi to Opotiki when it struck engine trouble, a Civil Aviation Authority statement said. It made an emergency landing on Matata Beach. "The pilot and his passenger discovered a fisherman unconscious on the beach when they got out of the aircraft.
