First mass land-based support making way to Kaikoura1 NEWS NZDF vehicles bringing aid to Kaikoura must deal with slips, cracks and dodgy bridges on the inland route. A convoy of New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) trucks is making its way over the Inland Rd to Kaikoura, filled with supplies and specialist personnel, in the largest land-based aid effort since Monday's massive earthquake. Twenty eight trucks is driving the broken Inland Rd to provide support and supplies to emergency services and Kaikoura residents. Top brass hoped the support being provided by the NZDF was "bolstering the spirits of the people of Kaikoura".
