S Alam Group is importing the onion from Egypt, the Ministry of Commerce said on Saturday, reports UNB. Onion consignments trapped due to cyclone Bulbul at Teknaf land port, Chittagong seaport and some other places will reach the country shortly, it said. The prices of onion, a common ingredient in Bangladeshi kitchen, have been on the rise since India banned its export on September 29. Various measures taken by the government could not bring down the prices which reached Tk250 per kg on Friday.
