London, 2 April 2021:A member of Libya’s Anti-Coronavirus Advisory Committee confirmed to Libya Herald today that the first batch of 57,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine is awaiting shipment to Libya. Libya remains one out of five African states not to receive its first batch of vaccines – together with CAR, Burkina Faso, Chad and Eritrea. On 22 March, Aldabaiba’s new Health Minister, Ali Al-Zanati, reported to Libyan media that he expects the first batch of AstraZeneca anti-Coronavirus vaccines to arrive in the country within the next two weeks. The statement came after the Health Minister had held a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya.
