Inspired by the ship that brought the Pilgrims to North America, 'Mayflower 400' will be guided by artificial intelligence rather than a human crew. The original Mayflower, which transported 102 Pilgrims and other passengers, took 10 weeks to reach its destination in 1620. Mayflower 400 was set to embark on its transatlantic cruise last September for the Mayflower's 400th anniversary, but was delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Just over 400 years later, the Mayflower 400 will gather critical scientific data about the ocean. The interior is also different from the living quarters of the original ship: Instead of beds, there are just rooms with science experiments.
