The student's body was retrieved from a ditch within Machakos Township on Thursday night. Machakos subcounty police commander Emmanuel Okanda said the incident happened at around 11.20 pm and was reported to Machakos police station as a sudden death incident. Okanda said the first year student was said to have left her rented house at Katoloni within Machakos Township for supper in a hotel in the area when the incident occurred. Okanda said the deceased's body was retrieved from a ditch along Ilovia street in Katoloni. "We have launched investigations into the incident," Okanda said.
