Corvette C8 Barrett-JacksonThe very first production model of the very first mid-engine Corvette went up for auction at Barrett-Jackson this week and drew enormous bids from the crowd. The car, VIN 001, went for a whole lot more than the car’s eventual MSRP of $59,995. We saw a red Corvette on stage, but it’s not the actual car that Hendrick will take home. Mary Barra, GM’s CEO, came out to egg on the crowd in an effort to get as much from the car’s sale as possible. Last year, the final Corvette C7, a black-on-black Z06, sold for $2.7 million.
