First Nations coalition demands top Sask. judge resign over residential school file dispute

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN), which represents Saskatchewan's First Nations, is demanding the resignation of one of the province's top judges after he did not immediately release a residential school file. CBC News recently learned that a file inside the Regina courthouse could show whether the Catholic Church kept its promises to residential school survivors. CBC News requested that Popescul immediately release the documents, but he said he was not able to. Saskatoon Catholics raised $28.5 million to build this cathedral in 2012, while critics say a promise to compensate residential school survivors was largely ignored. A national Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former students and those affected.
