One person has died after a car collided with the median strip and a truck on Auckland's Southern Motorway near Pokeno. The southbound lane of the motorway remained closed between the Razorback Rd and Nikau Rd interchanges and diversions were in place. It is the first death of the Labour Weekend road toll period. Last year, the road toll was five, from 94 reported injury crashes. A person died at the scene and the other was flown to hospital by helicopter.
