First Chinese relief for Rohingya arrives in Chittagong


Bangladesh has received humanitarian aid for the Rohingya from China, which is the first ever relief consignment to have arrived from the country since the influx began. A cargo flight carrying relief of 57 tons of relief arrived at Shah Amanat International Airport around 8:30am on Wednesday. Chittagong Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Habibur Rahman received at the aid at the airport. He told the Dhaka Tribune: “They have sent 2,200 large tents to accommodate the Rohingya people.”Also Read- China endorses Myanmar crackdown on RohingyaADC said: “Another cargo plane carrying the second consignment from China is en route. “The second consignment which carries blankets and more large tents is scheduled to arrive in same time.”According to the United Nations, as of Tuesday, at least 480,000 Rohingya have entered Bangladesh fleeing the violence in Myanmar.
