Fireworks landed on a waterfront Toronto recycling plant just moments before fire engulfed the building, causing damage estimated to be as high as $20 million, Toronto police said on Friday. Police said in a news release that fireworks were seen being launched from an area next to the recycling plant at 242 Cherry Street, near Lake Shore Boulevard East, shortly before 12:57 a.m. on Thursday, May 25. (Tony Smyth/CBC)The cause of the fire has to be determined by Toronto Fire Services investigators, Hopkinson said. It shows a series of fireworks being launched and exploding in the night sky near the waterfront. Fireworks were seen being launched next to a building on Cherry Street that caught fire moments later.
