Fires burn in Pohangina Valley during wild weatherGEORGE HEARD/STUFF Fire crews spent hours battling blazes in Pohangina (file photo). Fire crews were kept busy in Manawatū during Wednesday night's wild weather with shed and scrub fires. Emergency services were called to the first fire about 7.10pm on Wednesday, when a building caught alight on Pohangina Valley Rd. A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said the building was on a Department of Conservation campground, but he was unsure what the building was used for. The next fire took hold about 8.30pm on Takapari Rd in Pohangina.
