TACURONG CITY — His job is supposed to put out a fire but on Thursday night, when an emergency call came at the city disaster office here, Fire Officer 1 (FO1) Ralph Bajit responded to help deliver a baby. Bajit, who worked for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here, said the disaster office received a call about a woman having difficulty delivering her baby in Barangay San Pablo, Tacurong City. In Pigcawayan, North Cotabato, a 17-year-old high school student admitted throwing her newly born baby boy into the river to avoid humiliation. The municipal health office said some passersby found the baby floating in a river in Barangay Poblacion 3 at 7 a.m. Thursday. The girl admitted it was her baby, adding she did it to keep her unwanted pregnancy from her mother and boyfriend.
