PUTRAJAYA: Firemen on duty during the upcoming 14th General Election will be allowed to cast their ballots via postal voting, said the Fire and Rescue Department today. “We made an application with the EC in June to enable our firemen to vote as advance voters. He said some firemen will be on duty during the upcoming general election to ensure the election process runs smoothly. According to the Elections (Advance Voting) Regulations 2012, advance voters include outstation voters, election officers, election candidates, election agents, booth observers, counting agents, political party representatives, polling agents and police personnel. In the 2013 General Election, a total of 272,387 advance voters, comprising mainly military and police personnel, had cast their ballots as on April 30 that year.
