Fire crews are watching for any wind changes as they continue to monitor an ammonia gas leak at a Fonterra plant in Hamilton. Fire crews were still at the scene at 7am monitoring ammonia levels, Fire and Emergency NZ northern communications shift manager Paul Radden told Stuff. Emergency services are expecting the ammonia leak to continue into the evening, Radden said. The cause of the gas leak is still unknown, as emergency services are unable to access the inside of the building. "Once it is safe and we know its all under control and they can handle it themselves then we will hand it back to Fonterra," Trim said.
