The two largest fires were burning forests in northeastern California and southern Oregon, sending smoke across other states. Residents asked to conserve powerIn Oregon, the Bootleg Fire covered 621 square kilometres in the Fremont-Winema National Forest, near the Klamath County town of Sprague River. In central Oregon, a wildfire that started Sunday near the resort town of Sisters doubled in size to 16 square kilometres.
