Gore volunteer firefighters used jaws of life cutting gear to free a trapped person from a car which hit a power pole on the Waipahi Highway, north of Gore, early this morning. It is understood the person received a health check from ambulance staff but escaped life-threatening injuries, in the crash, shortly before 2am, near Pukerau, north of Gore. Further details were not immediately available. A police spokeswoman said police were continuing their inquiries into the crash.
