Firefighers fought a fire under pine trees near Dannevirke's aerodrome on Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters have rushed to a blaze threatening to take take hold of pine trees near Dannevirke's aerodrome. The 50-metre by 10m blaze appeared to have started on the roadside under the trees on Aerodrome Rd about 4pm on Tuesday, Fire and Emergency spokesperson Chris Dalton said. Two fire trucks from Dannevirke's volunteer fire brigade rushed to the scene, followed by a supporting crew from Norsewood and a rural unit. The crews worked to douse the flames, leaving the area about 1½ hours later.
