Firefighters have contained a house fire in Christchurch. Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Brent Dunn said three crews were called to the fire in Rutherford St, Woolston, about 8.50am on Wednesday. Thick plumes of smoke spilled from the windows of the weatherboard home while flames engulfed the back of the house.
