Emergency services were battling a fire in Taupiri by the bowling club. Firefighters have doused a bush fire in Taupiri before it got out of control. Emergency services were called to the blaze about 12.30pm on Monday on Onslow Ave in Taupiri, northern communications shift manager Colin Underdown said. Extra tankers were called to the 30- by 10-metre blaze behind the bowling club. Underdown said train control had been advised to proceed with caution as the fire was by train tracks.
