PANJIM: Though the State Government trumpets about its disaster preparedness, the State can hardly claim to be prepared for any disaster, even if it happens as close to Panjim as the Mandovi River. In a shocking revelation, a body which was floating in the river at 5pm onward could only be recovered at around 9pm on Friday night. From 6pm till 9pm the Old Goa Fire Services which were summoned at the place where the body was floating, ie. Near the Patto Ribandar under construction jetty, just watched and waited for the high tide to bring the body ashore.
