About 7.30pm on Friday, fire services were called to a New Plymouth address where there was a fire in the kitchen. A kitchen was alight when firefighters arrived at a New Plymouth house on Friday evening. About 7.30pm, three fire trucks were called to the Cook St address following reports of smoke and an alarm sounding. The crews arrived at the house to find the kitchen on fire, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson said Saturday morning. There was no-one home at the time, so fire crews had to force their way into the premises, he said.
