Firefighters battled an abandoned house fire in Ashburton on Tuesday night (file photo). An abandoned house in Ashburton has been seriously damaged by fire. Emergency services were called to the fire on Peter St about 8.40pm on Tuesday night. Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman Brent Dunn said three crews from Ashburton fought the blaze for about two hours. Dunn said a fire investigator would investigate the cause on Wednesday.
