A fire has ripped through 100 metres of olive trees and gum trees beside a railway line in Marlborough. Children attending the nearby Riverlands School, on the outskirts of Blenheim, have been told they cannot use the cycleway that runs alongside the tracks on their way home. Blenheim urban, Blenheim rural and Rarangi fire crews were called to the scene about 12.30pm on Monday, Foley said. A Facebook post by Riverlands School advised parents to make alternative arrangements for children that used the cycleway to get home.
