A man is recovering in Waikato Hospital after suffering serious burns during a pre-match performance outside FMG Stadium Waikato on Tuesday night. The man, described as a Polynesian fire performer, was part of a suite of pre-match entertainment arranged by Hamilton City Council ahead of the Chiefs' clash with the touring British and Irish Lions. Waikato District Health Board spokeswoman Lydia Aydon said the man is in a stable condition in a ward at Waikato Hospital. Hooker said the injured performer is from Auckland and is being supported in hospital by his family.
