Emergency services responded to the fire in Palmerston North suburb Kelvin Grove just after 3am on Friday morning. A Fire and Emergency spokesman said it received a call at 3.28am and arrived at the Mcleavey Dr​ property at 3.36am. Two crews, one from Palmerston North and one from Milson, found the house smoke-logged and a small fire in the kitchen.
