According to local fire service sources, the deadly fire originated around 1pm in the Sitakunda upazila. The officials concerned could not however ascertain the cause of the fire till the filing of this report. Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Abdullah Harun Pasha, in-charge of Kumira Fire Service Station said: “The oil depot had procured burnt engine oil from scrapped ships and stored them on site. The officials concerned are yet to disclose the extent of damage and any possible casualty report.
