Trains were stopped as emergency crews battled a fire burning across a hillside near Auckland’s CBD. Emergency services were called to Gladstone Rd in Parnell where vegetation caught near the train tracks. Around 6.30pm a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the fire was contained and crews were continuing to put out hotspots. Earlier, a police spokeswoman said emergency services expected the fire to take one to two hours to bring under control. Rail services were being stopped from running near the blaze as fire crews continued efforts to extinguish the fire, she said.
