Fire crews called to central Auckland hotel blaze

Auckland hotel guests and staff were greeted with smoke pouring out of a guest room on Wednesday morning. Fire and Emergency New Zealand senior station officer Chris Todd said there was "quite a bit of smoke" streaming out of the third floor of the Rose Park Hotel hotel in Parnell when firefighters arrived around 7.30am. Todd said the flames were extinguished quickly but the cause was not clear. Occupants of rooms on the third floor of the hotel were not being allowed to re-enter their rooms but others had re-entered the hotel by 8.30am. Seven fire crews attended the fire according to a FENZ spokesman.
