Over 150 stores at the makeshift market burned down in the blaze, which raged for about two-and-a-half hours early on Saturday morning. The DNCC Market, which was adjacent to the makeshift market, did not suffer any significant damage. The makeshift market, built using tin sheets on a steel structure next to the DNCC market, housed stores selling meat and poultry, groceries and perfumes and body spray. In addition to the stores selling imported food products, there were also stores selling plastic toys. DNCC Market Traders Association President SM Talal Rizvi said there were about 150 stores at the makeshift market.
