The fire started at the warehouse in Shahidnagar area around 9:40pm on Saturday, said control room Duty Officer Ataur Rahman at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters. On information, seven firefighting units rushed in and brought the flames under control around 10:30pm. The reason behind the fire and the extent of damage are yet to be known. A massive fire on February 20 had killed 70 people on Churihatta’s Nanda Kumar Lane in Chawkbazar, Old Dhaka after the flames ravaged through several multi-storey buildings — which stored chemical and plastic materials.
