Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, said the fire started on the seventh floor of the nine-story building around 2:50pm and spread soon. The building named Haji Shahabuddin Complex in Rasulbagh area on Shaheed Tajuddin Road houses readymade garments factory MU Fashions on the three lower levels and the Universal Nursing College on the five upper levels. On information, eight firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 3:55pm. He also said that the building had no firefighting system or equipment.
