The fire broke out at Dighalia upazila’s Zaman Jute Mills Corporation on Sunday afternoon around 12pm. The fire started around 12pm, when a Hard Waste machine of the factory malfunctioned and engulfed the whole establishment in flames, said Ahsan Ullah, officer-in-charge of Dighalia police station. Four units of Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed in and brought the fire under control after an hour-and-a-half of frantic effort. Jute, goods and machinery worth Tk2.5 crore have been lost to the fire, the OC added.
