Fire at Dixon St flats caused by candleSUPPLIED The fire service and police were called to a fire in flats on Dixon St.A candle is believed to be the culprit behind a fire in Housing NZ flats in Wellington on Tuesday. The fire was on the 4th floor of a block of flats on Dixon St, in Wellington's CBD, and police were called when an occupant blocked fire services' entry. A fire spokeswoman said the fire was reported at around 4.20pm, with the last fire engine leaving the scene a little over an hour later. It appeared the fire was caused by a candle, a police spokeswoman said. "The building wasn't required to be evacuated, so obviously it wasn't too serious."
