Fire at Auckland Central Police Station

Sixteen fire trucks were sent to extinguish a fire at Auckland Central Police Station on Friday night. A fire alarm went off at 11.05pm on the ground floor of a two-storey administration block. All police staff were evacuated from the building while fire crews arrived at the scene on Cook St in downtown Auckland. It is not yet known how the blaze started, however an investigator was on scene shortly after midnight. No one in the building was hurt, but one firefighter sustained a minor injury and was taken to hospital.
