Fire Service forms 5-member committee to probe Bhairab rail accident


DHAKA, Oct 24, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence todayformed another five-member probe committee to investigate the deadly trainaccident at Bhairab station. The investigation committee has been ordered to submit its report by fiveworking days, said Mohammad Shahjahan Sikder, acting officer of media cell ofBangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence. Director (operations and maintenance) of Bangladesh Fire Service and CivilDefence Lieutenant Colonel Md Tajul Islam Chowdhury will lead the committeewhile Md Masud Sardar, assistant director of Mymensingh Fire Service (membersecretary) will be its member secretary, he added. The other members of the committee are-- Deputy Assistant Director ofNarsingdi Fire Service (member) Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy AssistantDirector of Kishoreganj Fire Service (member) Md Enamul Haque, and StationOfficer of Bhairab Bazar Fire Service Station (member) Md Azizul Haque. At least 17 people were killed and several others were injured on Monday whena cargo train rammed into two bogies of a passengers' train "EgarosindhurExpress" at Bhairab Rail Station in Kishoreganj.
