more-inAs the deadline for implementation of fire safety norms ended for many establishments that were served notices, the Fire Department is now gearing up for an inspection of nearly 70 roof-top pubs and bars beginning Tuesday. Following the tragic death of 14 people at Kamala Mills in Mumbai in December-end, the Fire Department had served 15-day notices to roof-top pubs in the city to correct fire safety lapses within their premises. Simultaneously, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) had closed down around 65 out of 135 roof-top pubs until clearances from the civic body and Fire Department had been obtained. “From Tuesday, our teams will be re-evaluating all the roof-top pubs, to see if they have complied with the norms. “Our inspections have not ended, and it does not mean there are only 135 roof-top pubs in the city.
