The swastika became associated with the Finnish air force after a Swedish nobleman, Count Eric von Rosen, gave a plane to Sweden's infant air force which featured a blue swastika painted on it. According to professor Teivainen, he was also a friend of Hitler and a brother-in-law of Herman Goring, Hitler's air force chief.
