Candace Moir is not only organising the Run to Remember, she has decided to run it to get a feel for "what it was really like". Something about having a medal dangling around your neck marks an occasion in a way a paper certificate can't compete with, at least according to rookie runner Candace Moir. The Run to Remember medals were designed to include a pattern representing Rapaki Track. A record 1200 people from around New Zealand took part in the remembrance run this year. Sport Canterbury's Julyan Falloon earlier said he encouraged participants to commit to the event several months in advance, to allow time to get accustomed to the Port Hills terrain.
