Landlord fined again over “renoviction” of tenants, May 28Kudos to the Star for its continuing coverage of the alarming increase in “renovictions” and their effects on the affordable housing crisis in Toronto. A year after they were forced out, their units were being occupied by new tenants paying three times the original rent. The consequence of this bad faith by the landlord was an Ontario Court of Justice penalty totalling $60,000 and a $75,000 fine levied by the Landlord and Tenant Board.
