Money for operations and materials plus volunteers to deliver JA programs equals more students served. But I find the reasons why businesses choose a pathway of corporate-level community engagement are fascinating. Laurie Cappelli, JA Board member and Senior Vice President of Community Credit Union of Florida (CCU) writes, “CCU has a long history of active community engagement — it’s part of our cultural identity. So, as we search for new volunteers and support for JA programs, we’re simultaneously grateful for this beautiful and generous place we live. We hope that our corporate friends continually reexamine motivations and reasons for engagement, because the bar set for corporate community engagement has never been higher, better marked, nor better rewarded.
