By RICK GREEN, LACONIA DAILY SUNLACONIA — In the property room at the police station, wrist watches, pocket knives and cell phones take up room in boxes and bags. Honest people who find things of value often turn them in to police, and it turns out, there is a law that requires this. “As a public defender, when I first came across this, I was surprised because I thought, 'finders, keepers,'” he said. The most expensive item in the property room is a diamond ring valued at $36,280, but this isn't lost property. Lost items, including wallets and cell phones, are held in the evidence room of the Laconia Police Department.
