The health sector’s allocations in the coming state budget are estimated at EGP 53.7bn, while the ministry of health requested to increase its allocations to EGP 61bn. He stressed that the parliament insists on the health allocations defined by the constitution, amounting to 3% of GDP. The Health Committee has submitted a report to the Ministry of Finance demanding to increase the health allocations to reach 3% of GDP and exclude the public debt interest from its allocations. Daily News Egypt has revealed that the Ministry of Finance will add the public debt up to EGP 20bn to the health allocations for the next fiscal year. “The Health Committee insists on its recommendations on this subject, in accordance with the constitution, and we are waiting for the government’s response,” Mohamed al-Amari, head of the Health Committee, said.
