Minister of Industry and Trade, Tarek Kabil, has issued a decision to prohibit exporting all kinds of leather until they are given on site production inspection by the General Organization for Import and Export Control (GOEIC). The decision includes eliminating the inspection made on the imported leather production inputs. The minister said that the decision aims to regulate leather export and ensure accuracy of data on shipments exported and prevent manipulation. The decision stipulated that GOEIC would carry out the inspection based on a request from the exporter, where GOEIC must be notified 48 working hours before the inspection date. They have the right to carry out random inspection to ensure both the validity of the amounts and the quantities exported.
